When I bought this ratchet belt, I was sure what to expect. Three weeks later, I have to say I am beyond pleased! The ratchet technology is genius. The grooves are close together, giving the user the Ability to get that "Baby Bear" fit (ie not too loose and not too tight. Juuust right.) The release mechanism took some getting used to with my bumbling hands, but once I got it, it was a breeze. There were other ratchet belts out there, but I thought the buckle on the Bostanten was the most stylish. I plan on buying another one in brown.

Outstanding quality belt. Beautifully designed with a beautiful buckle. Understanding the ratcheting system on these belts is critical as I got mine stuck and couldnt release the lock and all it would do was get Tighter and Tighter. I thought there was something mechanically wrong with the release lever on the buckle but you have to wiggle the belt to relieve some of the tension on the latch. Otherwise the price and quality are outstanding. Five stars if there were more specific instructions on how to release the Harry Houdini lever if you got stuck with the belt cinched up too tight.

The automatic belt buckle felt heavy when I took it out of the box so I was a bit concerned it would feel heavy when I wore it. I was more than happy that you dont feel the weight while wearing it and it feels solid and has a great fit. The pouch that the belt comes in in its box is a nice touch and helps prevent the belt from being scuffed. I am absolutely loving this belt and the automatic buckle is awesome and allows you to adjust the belt to fit you perfectly. I was a bit concerned that the overlap would be a bit too long after adjusting the belt to fit my waist, but it was not. I am a 36" waist size so I ordered the 36-40" and the overlap goes just past the first belt loop on my pants which is just perfect for me and looks great. The leather used is of an extremely high quality as is the buckle which has a bit of weight to it but doesnt feel heavy while youre wearing the belt. I am more than satisfied with this purchase and will definitely look to buy other belts from this company.

I found out the hard way having gotten the tiniest scratch on it. Its now hideous because the finish peeled away exposing layers of metal separating apart. This was as easy as leaning over a counter. It is quite comfortable on the up-side. Sad that Ive not even owned it for long. After it became ugly.... Curious, I used a very fine stainless steel wire brush to explore further. It didnt take much to get through the coating that contains the design and down to what was left to the outer plated metal. The base metal appears coppery in color and readily tarnishes in air, turning uneven colors of reddish brown to dark gray. I figure my scratch alone couldnt have caused this; Im often in damp environments, so... explore the variable. Yes, water accelerates the corrosion. As simple as damp hands, air, spill a beverage, etc. I thought about sanding it smooth and trying to electroplate it or paint it with an epoxy that would restore this to better-than-new and have better resistance to life. After testing, its more of a nightmare than its worth because the base layer is a pitted mess and reminds me of trying to sand sintered copper. I never thought to take a picture of the scratch and peeling before I did what I did. I dont want to upload the current condition as it only shows further stresses to the product that I did for my own curiosity and entertainment and may cause the product to be unfairly assessed if by just the image alone.

I love this belt. My other belts quickly felt worn around the hole where I tightened it (maybe I need to spend more money on belts). This one is so simple and works incredibly well. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to loosen it. One of the tricks is to slightly pull it tighter as you pull up on the release lever. Now its so simple and quick. The other end is able to come off - this would allow you to refasten it at a smaller size if you ever wanted to. I think it looks good. It feels great. Its easy. Im all in. From now on, Ill be buying ratchet belts.
