This is my second one of these belts I have purchased. I like the first one so much I purchased a brown one for everyday wear. I must admit it looks a little fancy for an everyday belt but thats OK. I love how they work and you actually cut the belt off to fit your waist size. Thats easy just measure your waist and follow the instructions that come with the belt. I had to go back and re-cut both of mine to get the perfect fit. Id much rather have it a little long to be trimmed that to have cut off too much in the beginning. I hope these last a long time and if they do Ill be back again.

The belt itself is pretty good overall. I cut the extra length off two inches at a time until it was right for me. Unlike a lot of reviewers, mine came with instructions. However you will probably be able to figure it out without them. The ratchet release should be on top (where you can see it) but if you wear the belt normally, the release will be on the bottom. Youll have to feel for it, but after a try or two I was able to open the ratchet mechanism with no problem. I can live with that. However after wearing this belt with the black buckle for two days, indoors, in an office, somehow it ended up terribly scratched up. I didnt walk into anything or drop the belt, and I really have no idea how it got like this. Apparently just from putting it on and taking it off. This is not what I expected, and the reason I had to knock off 1 star. Maybe a different style of buckle would be more durable.

The belt is nice and the buckle sturdy .... except where it should be. The second time I wore it the release button failed to open the belt and broke off with minimal pressure while I struggled with it. While the buckle is heavy {heavier than I would like actually} the cheap metal or plastic (hard to tell) release button and will snap off leaving you stuck in the belt. I had to use pliers to pull out the damaged pin and get the belt off. Better carry some pliers with you if wear this thing out!!!

I have been looking for a belt just like this without knowing it until I found it! My weight fluctuates up and down rather drastically. The only kind of belt that I can rely on is the stretch kind. However, you *cannot* wear it as a dress belt. Unfortunately, dress belts do not usually come to fit *ANY* size, and often the holes leave the belt a little too loose or a little too tight, which is aggravating. And then I read the description of this belt: It tightens by RATCHETING!! Brilliant! AND it is reasonably priced. I bought one, and am so thrilled with the buckle options and especially how simple it is to fit PERFECTLY, I bought a 2nd one to give to a friend for Christmas. Ive rarely been so excited and appreciative of such a practical item. GREAT PRODUCT! I cannot recommend it more highly! P.S. I gave the belt to my friend Christmas Eve and he wore it to a family Christmas party today. He called afterwards and confessed that at first he thought, "Oh. A belt. Meh!" But now that hes worn it, he gets how great it is. He could not say enough about it, just like me. He also pointed out a feature that shows what amazing attention to details the company makes. They tool on the reverse side of the belt a *guide* to show where to cut it for your waist size. That really is a perfect touch that further distinguishes this particular belt. I pointed out that they have a terrific selection of buckles to choose from, and since I ordered his belt with the same buckle I had chosen, he might want to see if there was a design he would like more. He told me he cant imagine a better design than the one he has. The is a great belt, brilliantly designed in every regard, and once again, at a truly reasonable price. I am really beyond a "satisfied customer;" I am a big fan! You need to check it out!
