Purchased this belt in December 2017, and it lasted until July 2018, when one of the legs on the ratchet buckle broke off (see photo). I am completely sold on the ratchet style belt, this was my first time with a belt like this so I bought an original, Slide Belt, not a knockoff brand like Mission. The quality of the ratchet in the buckle and on the strap is excellent. It never slips, no wear, and the click/catch mechanism will last forever. The edges of the belt strap began delaminating around 4 months, and at 7 months the actual buckle broke. The mechanical portion of the buckle appears to be cast out of a cheap metal, and then chrome finished. The finish is beautiful and looks very sharp when youre wearing it. The structural portion of the buckle that sees the most stress appears to be under-designed. In the photo, you can see the small leg on the ratchet portion snapped off, its thin in this area and probably just needs to be thicker. It happened while I was taking it off. I would expect for a $38 belt it would last about a year before needing to replace the strap, but I assumed the buckle would last longer. I wear it maybe 4-5 days a week, waist size is 34, and I wear it to church and the office at work (not repelling or kickboxing). Three stars for only lasting 7 months until breaking, two stars for delaminating at 4 months. I could get that same quality at Walmart for $12, because the ratchet is useless anyway if the buckle breaks.

Ive bought two of these belts. Both have had issues with the finish wearing off the buckle. The sizing and adjustability of the belt is awesome, I really like the design and look. However, both times now the buckle finish wears off and starts to look really bad; for what they charge for these this is an issue that should be addressed - sounds like Im not the only one with the problem..

Great concept, have several of these. Love the "infinite" adjustability. However, if you wear them, prepare to carry some scissors with you. Have had many failures where the end of the belt pulls loose/shreds from the coupling, only fix is to cut the end of the belt off to have a new, clean, attachment. Nothing like walking down the street when your belt fails and your pants are falling off.Latest failure tonight at home, fortunately scissors nearby. Sorry, SlideBelts, really wanted to love you, but very disappointed, If you do wear these, highly recommend designer boxers so you look fashionable when your belt fails and your pants drop!

This purchase was just to check out the description and functioning of the SlideBelt’s design. I was completely satisfied and purchased two more belts and another buckle a few days later. I have abandoned all previous non-SlideBelt belts and have worn one of my new SlideBelts every day for over 10 months now. Completely satisfied! And then a few days ago, one of the pivot pins fell out rendering my original buckle useless; probably I had been tightening the belt too much. I checked on SlideBelt’s website and discovered that the buckle might be under warranty, so I emailed them. Within a few minutes of their opening on the west coast, I received a very courteous email from their Service Guru regretting the problem and advising that she was sending me a replacement buckle, no questions asked. I was very pleased and concluded that their quality assurance is so good that the cutomer service function is not really kept very busy, unlike many similar institutions in other companies! Conclusion: if you don’t already have SlideBelts you should and you will be very satisfied.

[Update] For some reason this edit didnt save weeks ago, which is annoying. Anyway... I contacted SlideBelts about this issue when it happened. According to them, this has been a common thing with Amazon orders because people are returning used belts and Amazon QA isnt doing a good enough job not reselling them. SlideBelts immediately overnighted me a new belt and buckle to make up for the mistake and had me send them the used belt so that it didnt wind up being resold at Amazon again. Swift, accommodating customer service gets a big A+ from me. If I still had to find a fault in the product, it would be this: After a year of wearing a SlideBelt, the area of the leather where the buckles teeth grip it has worn and now on rare occasions the buckle will slip off while putting the belt on. Its not a huge deal, but probably something that shouldnt happen in the first place. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I purchased one of these belts last summer and instantly fell in love with it. Ive worn it nearly every day for the last year and its been a real trooper. Im somehow historically bad when it comes to buckle longevity. Im not sure if its lifting gear on tour or what, but I scratch the hell out of buckles. This was no different, though no ones fault but mine. Fast forward to now. Im getting married in a week and figured I should grab a belt and buckle in more mint condition, so I ordered a new belt. Sadly, the belt arrived looking like its been worn for years. There are creases, cracks and breaks all over this thing. Small scratches on the buckle. My first belt came in a nice box with cut-for-size instructions, a pretty layout and the like. My "new" belt arrived in a plastic bag. The seller was SlideBelts themselves, so I didnt buy from from used 3rd party. Ill post pictures of the condition of the belt shortly and will be reaching out to SlideBelts for a refund exchange. I certainly hope Quality Control lands where it was a year ago because this is gross. 2 stars instead of 1 because my last belt was awesome.
