Timberland Men's Classic Leather Jean Belt

I received this belt wrapped in some plastic only. Not ideal packaging, but its not as if the belt is fragile that it needs stryfoam or packing peanuts. The belt itself looks good, and feels good. Ive received a number of compliments while wearing this belt as well. The main problem is, the belt scuffs very, very easily. And, with the dark brown colour, the scuffs are very visible. The scuff shown in the attached photo is around the area where the buckle sits. The other issue with this belt is its smell. A had a very strong chemical smell when it was new, and it has worn off with time, but it is still there. For these two reasons, Im taking two stars. I bought this belt because I wanted a full grain brown leather belt, that would not be too expensive, and would not start stripping. At $20, I figured this was a steal, but now Im not so sure. I dont know whether to recommend this product or not. All I can say is, I bought a much higher quality leather belt recently (a purchase I am happy with), but that set me back $60. So maybe for 1/3 of the price, these are the issues I have to deal with. For someone else, they may be deal breakers.

I ordered 35 mm classic jean belt. This is really a genuine leather belt: just one layer of leather strip. I ordered the length after consulting the advisory picture guide and the belt was still a bit longer than needed. But my husband cut the belt short to the needed length and he is very happy with it.

This is a good solid leather belt and has served me well thus far, but I have one complaint. Because the inside of the belt is a raw/unfinished type of leather, when you put the end of the belt through the loop, you really have to force it through and then pull it out the other side with some effort. Its not a nice smooth movement. It doesnt detract from the usefulness of the belt, just a bit of a pet peeve.

I made the mistake of buying this in the light brown and the dark brown. After about 2 or 3 wears, the surface of the belt under the buckle stars to wear off, leaving light colored lines across the belt. There are also crack marks and wear along the edge, near the buckle. I really doubt that this is real leather, if it is, its very low quality. Like other reviews have said, Im doubtful its a genuine Timberland product, unless theyve really gone down hill. So save your money and buy a good full grain leather belt thats actually going to last, I wish I had.

Within 6 days or so, the surfaces, front and back, were already wearing the lame whatever substance is on the surfaces of the belt. Worn, rubbed off surfaces. Its possible that this entire product line (Timberland belts in this case) is of similar quality. Sad.
