Have been wearing Levis for years. They fit as usual. I enjoyed them because I always knew what size to order, and I thought I enjoyed the fit. However, recently Levis have been poorly made. The material is thin and doesnt hold up. I also have found that the crotch area tends to pinch my tender spots when I sit down. After spending $50 for a pair or jeans and having them get torn in the crotch area after a week or working, I have since changed to Wrangler. I have found the 47 fit to be similar to Levis, yet much stronger, and i dont experience the crotch pinch and tear like I do with my old 501s. I will say that I keep one new pair of 501s in the closet for my going out jeans. The color of 501s is hard to match in other brands, so when I need a more fancy pair to wear out, I still go to my one pair of 501s. If you work in your jeans, I would recommend trying a pair of Wrangler 47s for a more durable and half the cost pair of jeans.

I am so very disappointed in Levi Strauss. My husband has worn Levis all of his long life ( me too before I found another brand that are made to fit a woman 58", 140 pounds with a high waist.) Used to be when I had a new pair of jeans they started being less stiff after maybe 2 years and 500 washes, & looking old at 5 years. We wanted them to look old back in the time I was a teen ager in 1968. These jeans were washed once before the canvas at the watch pocket was losing its color and the thread was showing!!! I washed them with mens white t-shirts and the color came off on them. I cant tell you what a let down that was. No matter how old they were back when they were made with quality instead of on the cheap they never shed the color and the actual material, with the shoddy canvas or whatever it is made to last maybe a year for $50.00. It is really ridiculous. I have had another brand that I am wearing now for 15 years. I still get whistled at when I wear these. I wont ever buy Levis gain, for any reason. I dont know how all of you feel, but I would rather pay double or more and keep the quality instead of ruining the t-shirts too. All around the cuff, the pockets, just both pair of jeans are literally garbage. He had to go to a local store to get a different size than he wore for many years to enable me to order the correct new size as he had lost weight as an older man and needed new ones anyway. The old ones were a couple decades old. Cruddy looking, but they got that way with years of wear. I am going to write a letter to the Levi company itself also. Total trash. Do not buy.

Ok. I miss the classic 501s with shrink to fit, heavy denim. That said, these new 501s seem reasonable jeans for what they are. They fit OK out of the box and had no discernible shrinkage with the first washing. It remains to be seen if I can get these to shrink a bit (in some areas) and stretch a bit (in other areas) for that super-comfortable 501 fit. The lighter-weight denim seems less durable. These jeans are only disappointing in comparison with how 501s used to be.
