Bought these for use as a lightweight hiking trekking and travel pant for use in subtropical Florida climate and so far am pleased with the way they fit, look and perform. The fit is more form fitting in the legs and not baggy as with other hiking pants I have used. Also, the fabric appears to resist wrinkles which makes them the perfect travel pant. The lightweight, stretchy, breathable and water repellent and quick drying nylon fabric makes them a perfect choice for this challenging environment. They have a gusseted triangular vented crotch feature that should aid in mobility and allow added venting in this active area of the pant. I have other favorite nylon hiking pants (Columbia Silver Ridge my favorite) hiking/ trekking pants and these appear to be a little heavier fabric but are still comparable in weight. Probably better fitted for somewhat cooler climates. No SPF factor is advertised by this manufacturer but due to the natural SPF of nylon fabric it is probably has a SPF rating of 40-50 - similar to the advertised SPF rating of the Columbia Ridge pants - another bonus feature of this pant for those who want to protect themselves from the deletrious effects of UV radiation. Hopefully, durability is good as I plan to take them on a Joshua Tree National Park excursion with rock climbing planned! The double and triple stitching construction in key areas of the pant and metal waist closure button should provide some added durability (plastic buttons are not durable). As far as fit goes, I ordered my normal size 34X32 and while they fit me as expected - although just a slight tight in the waist and crotch area. The adjustable belts helps but still a little tight. With this feature you can wear these pants without a belt. As other reviewers have indicated recently, they do run a little tight in the waist area even with the expandable belt in the fully open mode. If you are using these pants to conceal carry a weapon in IWB mode then you might want to order 2 sizes up to accomodate for this. I intend to order next size up size 35 on future orders to give a little more room in those areas. Other features I like about these pant are the double zippered security pocket on the left pant leg that allows for both top and side access a really brilliant design and handy feature! Also, there is a security flap pocket (not velcro) on right hip to provide an extra level of security for storing wallet and or valuables. The large 2" wide belt loops allow for use of a wider belt that will better support and accomodate a OWB holster with no problem. Only cons I see with these pants so far are the somewhat short depth front side pockets and short front fly zipper depth. Not enough to take away from my 5 star rating. These PrAna pants are great for travel. I own several pairs of convertible and standard pants made with this fabric. It is very comfortable, and resists wrinkles. Note that the sizes list here are for waists, and are not the sizes listed in the sizing chart link. That link says that size 30 is a 32 waist, which seems odd, but thats what it says. I debated whether the size chart was right, or if it was waist size, but I previously bought PrAna pants sized as XS, S, M and L for waist, so I decided to go with the sizing chart and bought size 30 pants, around Memorial day, and when they arrived I found them too small - an actual 30 waist. I started a return thinking Id just buy the right size, but the price had gone up about $25, so I looked to see if I could exchange them. I found an Amazon policy stating clothing can be exchanged for a different size, but the return process wouldnt let me, so I contacted customer service. That started a series of emails that were singularly unhelpful, with various explanations about why the online exchange option didnt work, that they couldnt do it for me, they dont control pricing, etc. I asked if they could escalate to someone who could override the standard options, or maybe issue me a price credit for the increase, but got nowhere. I eventually rated the experience unhelpful, at which point the Amazon site asked for another chance to help me. I reiterated my problem, that Id be happy to re-buy the correct size if I could get them for a comparable price, etc. I never got a response. I guess the lesson if if you have any doubts about size, buy both/multiple sizes, and then return the ones that dont fit, so you don;t get burned by a big price increase between the time you buy the item and find out it doesnt fit.

These things are the Carhartt of Hiking and Climbing pants, without feeling like youre wearing a canvas bag. I took them through one of the most challenging slot canyons in Utah, spent hours pinned between and literally scraping through sandstone walls (sides, knees, butt, shins were all exposed to a lot of abuse), using them to slide and slow my slide in different places, and theyre barely worse for ware. A few shredded stitches on the backside and a couple minor "scars" on the side, but zero holes and zero rips. By contrast: my long-sleeve nylon-cotton T ended up with approxiamately 25 small holes (front, sides and back), other members of my slot group literally had large holes ripped in their "hiking shorts," and my brand new Merrell hiking / climbing shoes got two holes worn in them (one for each side). Among the entire group, these pants were the only thing that got out of that canyon without holes in them. Added bonus: they also breathed well, so they are comfortable in warm or chilly weather as youre hiking in or out. Fit around waist was good. Recommend you consider one waist size larger than normal for slots or climbing, for "crotch comfort".

These are the best pants ever. I bought my first pair at REI and came to Amazon for the mud color. The only negative is the zippers in the side pockets isnt as reliable as they could be. But the way these pants fit is heavenly. I bought them for a backpacking trip through Europe and couldnt be happier. I tried out the Eddie Bauer Travex Horizon pants and while they pretty nice, they only come in 2 colors. These Prana are amazing. I added a pic of all three colors (from left to right) for reference: mud, dark khaki and charcoal.

This is the third pair of prAna Mens Stretch Zion pants I have bought. I just prefer these to jeans for the freedom of movement and comfort in warmer weather. The pants also clean easily, and dry pretty fast, so I just hang them instead of using a dryer. These pants have lasted long over the years with minimal care. If there were anything I would be critical of, its the cloth - these pants are much firmer than when they (quickly) become worn in. I prefer they stay as firm as when they first arrive as they look like proper slacks as the product picture shows. My first pair, which are more than 2 years old now, can almost feel like thin sweatpants that do not really hold the shape of a pair of pants. Also, the current pair I have, the rubber on the zippers on the pockets seem to be transferring black to the pants, which I am unsure of why this is happening only now. Ill update this review with pictures of the above soon. Thank you for reading!
