I have been wearing New Balance 990s for what seems like forever. I wore the originals, then moved to the V3s and now the V4s. I skipped over the V2s as I kept ordering old stock of the originals, afraid the new ones couldnt be as good. When I moved to the V3s, I was very happy. Each iteration seems to get lighter in weight, yet maintain the comfort and arch support that I love. I used to hate shopping for new shoes. But once I found the 990s, Ive never switched. These are my everything shoes. I wear them all the time, getting a new pair every 5-6 months, rotating the older pair to those I wear when working in the yard, ... and then toss out my oldest pair. Also, that they are made in the USA is great. A bit pricey, but to me, well worth it because of the comfort.

Ive only been wearing these V4s for about 4 days but so far theyre great. Good lateral support, very comfortable. They serve the specific purpose in my case of cushioning the footfall which under normal circumstances involving street shoes would leave my osteoarthritic knee extremely painful. With these shoes on there is an enormous improvement. So, one can look at a good running shoe not only as a sporting shoe but also as a highly effective protective measure for older people who walk for their exercise. Super!

I bought a pair of these exact same shoes when on vacation in New Hampshire. Loved the sneaker. I have a hard time calling them "Athletic Shoe" or "Running Shoe", because Im not athletic and Im not going running. Im in my seventies and just got a whole knee replacement(shouldve done it years ago). The original pair were/are very comfortable, and they worked well with my cane. Now I dont need the cane anymore and the sneakers still work great. They dont seem to miss the cane either. As for the new shoes, they are now my dress shoes here in Arizona. They fit as well as my original pair, but they dont have all the character lines or stains yet. So, if you need a pair of comfortable "sneakers", these New Balance Mens M990GL4 Running Shoes by New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc are highly recommended by this Arizona retiree.

New Balance is predictably cutting manufacturing corners on these shoes. I just happened to have my two previously purchased pairs, one I now use for most everything but looking nice and the older pair relegated to lawn mowing, each pair about 9 months older than its replacement. If I line them up I can see the progressive changes . . . a little less leather, a little cheaper on the details. Theres nothing major that I, with an untrained eye, can be aware of, but there are a few differences even a duffer like me can perceive. I continue to buy and wear the 990s because they fit my narrow feet right, they look pretty good and because Im used to them. I can tell, though, that as New Balance continues on this slippery declining slope the day is coming when Ill have look for something else again. After something like 15 years and I dont know how many pairs of the same shoes over and over again, that day will be sort of a sad one for me.

Very comfortable shoe. I chose these because everything in foot locker and stores are garbage or just flat out ugly. The ones that look ok and I settle on have given me heel spurs. So I decided on these because theyre made in America and have never heard bad things. Reviews were helpful too so that eased the pain in parting with so much money. After a day of wearing, I ordered another pair because you never know when they will take a good shoe off the market these days and wrap it in Styrofoam for $100+ so you buy more and faster.
