I bought this shoe because it was on a great sale. I guess there were a couple of things I didnt realize about the shoe: 1 - The shoe came with no insert. In my case, I guess that was ok because I inserted an orthepedic cushion, so it wasnt he end of the world, but if you dont just have something like that around, you could be really annoyed. 2 - The shoe immediately shows every bend of your walking and starts adding lines and discolorizations across it. I happened to view that as "character" and so think its ok, especially as a casual shoe. 3 - This shoe feels like it could use another eyelet and lace it up one more step to be secure on your foot. So, for me, the shoe happens to work out but I could see a lot of people being unhappy with it. If I had not gotten it so inexpensively I would have been very unhappy.

I ordered my usual size 9.5 and, after trying them on, thought “I should have taken heed of other reviewers and ordered a size down.” These initially felt huge, almost cavernous. But I paused after I was going to re-box them and return and took an objective approach. I compared it to another shoe of the same size and they were identical. The toe box was ample, if not oddly roomy, but the boot aligned with the joint at the base of my big toe, signaling to me a proper fit. Laced up tight, it was a comfortable, slipper-like feel. There is little or no arch support in the shoe and this may cause some issues with some people. I would never wear these for long periods on a concrete floor or manual work situation. I work a desk job and they are not dressy enough for my taste, even though it is a business casual office, but I did not purchase these for office wear. I know I need arch support or my feet will ache at the end of the day. I solved this by putting in some cushioned liners. At this point these boots felt wonderful with slightly thicker socks. Viola! They are perfect weekend-casual footwear for three seasons of the year. I broke them in by wearing them on a five mile walk. Not the smartest thing I’ve done, but the leather did loosen up and I think they are mostly broken in by now; I have blisters to prove it. They look good and feel cozy in cooler weather. Have noted no quality issues, such as the oft-complained separation of the soles, but time will tell. I may replace the laces soon because the laces that came with it are cheap and it feels like I am going to break one very soon. Overall I think I will enjoy this purchase.

Sizes about a 1/2 large, so order down. Great looking boots, but not much sole support if youre going to be walking a lot. I had a difficult time deciphering the difference between beeswax and dark brown so I just purchased both. The picture has the side by side comparison with the dark brown color being on the left. Theyre both incredibly nice looking boots and nearly identical leather texture. The dark brown has a slight reddish tint with darker laces/sewing while the beeswax has lighter laces/sewing.

2 1/2 stars is probably a more adequate rating, but Amazon doesnt give me that choice. These started out decent, but they have quickly worn in and look like Ive owned for 5 years already. The leather broke in really fast, but it also began abrading very rapidly. Scuffs show up fast and are nearly impossible to get rid of. The creases happened rapidly and the shoe just looks tired and worn after a couple of months wear. The sole has held up VERY well however. The sole will surely outlast the upper on these shoes. The shoelaces are perhaps the cheapest, lowest quality laces ive ever had. They are flimsy, dont stay tied, and arent nearly substantial enough for the type of shoe this is marketed as. COMFORT IS LACKING! I dont understand how so many people think these shoes are the mark of comfort?!!? The main reason I purchased them is because ive often heard that they are the most comfortable shoes out there. Wow, maybe my feet arent built right? I dont know....but what I DO know is: #1: The insoles that come with these shoes are a joke...matter of fact...there ARE NO INSOLES. Its just the footbed with a thin piece of suede or something in the heal region. There is literally NO softness. AT ALL. #2: You MUST put in an insole pad if you want any sort of cushioning and marginal comfort. BUT, when you put in an insole, the fit immediately is compromised. The shoe becomes way too tight in the forefoot area, and there still isnt sufficient heel cushioning. Its much better than how they ship though.... #3: Dont buy these at full price.. You will be sorry and immediately regret it. Wish I had sent them back when I had a chance. Wish I hadnt decided to break them in and see if they got better.

I am so happy with my new Clarks and Im glad that I read the reviews before I purchased learning that this shoe is about a half a size large which was absolutely true for me. Normally I wear 10 and a half size shoe but upon learning through the reviews that its a half size large I decided to trust them and order a size 10. Believe me when I tell you this they fit perfectly. I mean the fit is dead on and the quality of this shoe is unbelievable. I went with the size 10 black nubuck leather chukka boot. As soon as I opened the package I could smell the leather smell and once I pulled the shoe out of the box I was stunned by the quality of leather used. I dont consider myself an expert in leather but I do own a large quantity of diverse types of weather varying in quality. My favorite types of leather are vegetable tanned leather shaved suede leather and nubuck leather. This has to be some of the softest and nicest nubuck leather I have ever purchased. A good comparison is the nubuck leather used by Herschel on some of their mens wallets 100% absolutely stoked on my purchase and would highly recommend to anyone looking 4 a leather boot especially due to the fact that these boots cost me less than $55.
