These are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn and they hold up very well. I have worn them for 6 months at work where I walk on steel grating that is like saw teeth. My Keen boots would be worn out by now but these show very little wear. The only negative is they do not breath making for very sweaty feet. I have to wear wicking socks and I have 2 pairs of the boots that I alternate daily.

I really like these boots. Theyre stylish and comfortable. I can wear to work and not look like I just stepped out of the woods. Ive worn these on a 10 mile hike and they did not disappoint in terms of performance. The only complaint I have is that theyre not really breathable and your feet tend to feel a little swampy if youre doing a lot of walking. I attribute this to the waterproof membrane, which works great by the way. So, youre taking the good with the bad. If these boots used Gore-Tex or some other high tech material for waterproofing, theyd probably be north of $300. For the price, theyre a really nice boot.

These boots look great in person. Quality is good and they are very comfortable right out of the box. They feel like a new pair of high top basketball shoes. I ordered my normal shoe size 12 wide and they fit great, very roomy. I dont understand why people in reviews always suggest sizing down when it comes to boots. Ever notice its the same people who complain about a tough break in period? Thats because they bought shoes that were too small to begin with. Just buy the size you always wear in shoes and youll love em. Anyway they are waterproof but I haven’t tested it. They do make my feet sweat just like all waterproof boots. But how can something really let moisture out and not in? It doesn’t make sense so they shouldn’t lie about it. Either way I still really like them and I’m Very excited to wear these things all winter. I want another pair in another color way already.

I followed the size instruction and the fit was good but they felt hard and were hard on the bottom of my feet. I tried an insole but it seemed to cram the top of my feet higher into the top of the shoe. I returned them and ordered the Danner Mens South Rim 600 4.5" Hiking Boot and what is funny, the Danner Mens South Rim 600 4.5" Hiking Boot runs large? Anyway the Danner Mens South Rim 600 4.5" Hiking Boot are like walking on air! Just my opinion!..

I bought these in the dark brown suede, and they look and feel great. As others have pointed out, they dont breathe very well (or at all), so I couldnt imagine wearing them on hikes in hotter weather. The inside liner (Danner Dry) is almost like a thin layer of plastic, so by the end of the day, my feet are definitely a little sweaty. However, I bought these to wear in a more casual setting (I work in academia), so Im usually sporting them with jeans and a flannel or sweater to work, with the idea that they could also double as hikers if I travel someplace where I might hit some trails (although I havent tested them on any terrain yet). They definitely run a little large in both width and length. Im a consistent 8.5 in every shoe I own, but bought these in 8 and they fit perfectly. I also have "slightly" wide feet, so Im usually in between medium and wide widths, but the medium width fit just fine....so if youre only slightly wide, youll probably be fine with medium. Theyre also made of leather, so any tightness you may feel at first will stretch out after a day or two of wear. To summarize, as someone who hikes a bit, Id be hesitant to use these as my main hiking boots, especially in warmer weather, given their lack of breathability (I have a few pairs of Gore-tex hikers that perform much better in this area), but these boots are really cool, with that classic hiking boot look, and are a great all-around boot that could do some light trail work during the day, (and assuming they dont get too dirty), pair with some jeans for an evening at the pub. Im already looking to buy another pair in a different color. Its my first pair of Danners, but probably wont be my last!
