Used these for the military when I was training at Ft. Bliss, Texas. One thing that I enjoyed about these boots is that they were very light. They are the lightest boots that I have ever worn. Having light boots was great, but it came at a cost. I noticed that my feet were being pierced by what felt like a needle, and it was from these plants that drop these needle like pins that were going through the thin rubber and into my feet. I had to use the pliers from my gerber to pluck the needles out of my boot. These were not metal needles, they were from the plants. With that being said, if you go ahead and buy these boots, I would only wear them for walking around. If you are in the military wear these for guard/barracks duty, or when its a day of sitting around. They would probably be okay for running without any load, but be advised that you will have some rubbing on your pinky toe. My final thoughts is that the boot is made for light duty, however, if you plan to ruck or use it for military training, go with something else.

Ive heard great things and admired these boots from afar for a while. The original reason I waited to buy them was because I was told that they had a significant arch on the insole. This is untrue. These boots are flat and comfortable for people with little arch in their foot like myself. I was also told I could order based off my usual size. I should have ordered a half size larger. They are not uncomfortable small, but I will not be wearing them on days that require a lot of walking. Edit: I did have to make these my primary boots after my Bates started falling apart. After wearing them more consistently they fit significantly better than they did originally. While not so great for the cold, these were very comfortable in the desert. Size up a half-size maybe, or just put some thick socks on and break them in well.

I read hundreds of reviews on this boot from several different sites. I was mainly interested in quality, comfort, and fit. I already have boots that are waterproof and boots that are well insulated and waterproof, so I was looking for a very light weight boot for fair weather use. I wear it for yard work, fishing from the bank of a local stream, and to the office on "casual Friday". The quality of the construction is fine, and it should be very durable for my applications. It is very comfortable, about like wearing a light weight walking or running shoe. The lacing is a breeze, and lends itself to a very customizable fit, especially around the ankles. I was concerned about the sizing, as with any clothing purchased online. I made a spreadsheet to evaluate the sizing reviews, and, on a curve, it leaned a little to the "runs small" side, so I ordered a size 10.5, which is a half-size larger than I normally wear. The boot is a little short in the length. The width is fine (wide), and the toe box is roomy. The boot is not short enough to cause any real friction, and Ive worn them with hunting socks varying from very thick to almost as thin as dress socks. Overall, I am very pleased with this boot, but I do wish I had ordered a full size larger. I highly recommend this boot for fair/warm weather applications. Update: Ordered a size 11w, and the fit is much better. I am keeping the 10.5 original pair, as they are wearable, but just not as comfortable for all day wear. And, as many others have commented, the new pair squeak (first pair didnt), but not a deal breaker. I still highly recommend this boot, just order large enough to allow room for warm boot socks for cold weather wear.

Had this boot less than a year mostly for my warehouse job (they dont require steel toes) and I am used to combat boots for several years. Been my daily and at my work Avg walking distance is 8-16 miles every day so on the mid range taking account for daily use is about 20,000 Miles. Glue held up to my surprise low tread wear, have two blow out spots from taking them off and on daily on the back heel on the fabric. Other hole is from my friends screen door. Blew out the in soles in about 14,000 miles, mostly the fabric is the weakest link for wear and durability. The Lace tips just barely broke. Issues are is the laces are made of a paracord like material and they come undone often, arch support can be better if hiking. Other wise nothing but praise on the durability of the leather and the glue holding the sole in place. I like how light they are if I am needing to move quickly. The sole is nice and flexible if you like that more than a ridged fiber glass shank like my other boots.

I have very bad feet after wearing military boots for so many years. After one of my troops bought a pair and highly recommended them, I decided I would purchase a pair. Im so glad I did. These Danner Mens Tachyon 8 Inch Coyote Military and Tactical Boot are absolutely amazing and just what I needed. They are lightweight, and very comfortable. I usually wear a mens 5.5 wide, but decided to go up a half size after having surgery on my foot so I would have plenty of room. These boots fit exactly as I had expected. The extra half size gave my foot plenty of room to accommodate the slight swelling I still have and yet not be so large that they wont fit well after my foot finally heals. I would definitely recommend these to anyone considering purchasing them!
