These are fantastic! Right out of the box, no break in period required. Just lace these brilliant boots around your favorite socks (Wigwam in the warmer months, Darn tuff for winter) and hit the trail. Wide and protective toe box, good traction and comfortable ankle support. Great laces and lacing system. Perhaps theyre not the most durable, but youll get a solid season of hiking out of them. I probably got about 300 miles, maybe more, before I decided to "refresh". Maybe theyre not for 15k hikers, but for 46ers, and day hikers, the best boots Ive owned. I live with the fear that Keen will discontinue these boots.

Keen Mens Voyageur Mid Hiking Boot,Dark Earth/Burnt Henna,15 M US Just a few years ago I purchased my first real hiking boots in a long, long time. I really didnt need hikers as much as I needed footwear that would keep me warm at an upcoming football bowl game. My team wasnt quite good enough to get a "warm-weather" bowl invitation so I just knew it would be cold. Nothing is worse than sitting in the stands with freezing feet and not being able to do anything about it. I didnt buy my Keen Voyageurs that day. They are too airy and light for such duty. The boots I did buy were from a competitor and they did the job too well. Only problem is that theyre only comfortable in cold conditions--at least to me. But they were comfortable, sturdy and delivered exactly what I was looking for. The comfort intrigued me. I have some orthopedic issues as well as knee problems and getting the right footwear is essential. So I went back to the store that sold me my cold-weather hikers and asked what they had in a lightweight boot. The first shoe I was shown was a pair of Keen Voyageurs. I tried them on and it was an "aaaaaah" moment for me. The price wasnt the best but I know that you get what you pay for so I decided to go with the Keens. I wore them almost everywhere. I even wore them to work. Probably not the best choice for office footwear but it was a comfort-first issue for me. One great thing was that I could put my orthotic inserts in after removing the liner that came with them and the fit was perfect. I began to wear them year round. A thicker pair of socks helps ward off the cold in normal activities (dont know how theyd work in a cold stadium...my team hasnt done well lately :^) and when its hot as blazes--theyre akin to wearing sandals when I wear a thinner sock. I put those boots through the grinder by wearing them as much as 5-6 days a week. I know it wasnt the Appalachian Trail but I still dont know of any boots that would have held up as long as they did without some deterioration. Im really hard on footwear for the record. While they didnt become unwearable, they did become unsuitable for work. So I went looking for a replacement pair. The store I bought them from originally didnt carry them anymore. Thats when I thought of Amazon. Amazon came through for me and even though the price was about the same as the old pair (no fire sale here), the shipping was free. So I pulled the trigger and got my next pair of Voyageurs. The old ones? They are still serving me well as weekend work boots. And the new ones? Not a problem at all...and I wear them to work almost daily. Kudos Keen!

So far so good. Have worn a few weeks. Seem very durable. I have not noticed any signs of glue coming loose, referenced in other reviews. Shoelaces stay tied, but are a bit long. Not sure why they are so long as there is nowhere to wrap them around your ankle or anything like that. I really like the design of the shoelaces however, as they are bumpy which helps them stay tied. You will just need to talk the shoe tie bows in really well as they can catch the highest plastic grommet on the other shoe and trip you up.

I buy almost exclusively Keen footwear since many years. They fit me well, they are confortable, excellent quality and design. But this model I just hated... Sizing is wrong, they are not as confortable as Im used with Keen, a few loops broke and the sole detached on the two of them. But Keen as a good customer service and warranty and they gave me a credit for another pair because of the defects.

These are comfy shoes once they are broken into. They look good and give okay ankle support. The downfall is that any amount of water, from wet grass to a puddle will soak these shoes and drench your feet. I wear wool socks year round and even with them on, my feet will still get drenched from walking in some wet grass. I also tried to wear them at work(environmental surveyor), they handled the terrain well, as long at it was dry and no mud. Tho, digging and doing any type of labor with these shoes will wear them down rather quickly. In around a couple weeks, my eyelets were torn and the soles were coming apart. I would only recommend these shoes for light hiking in dry conditions and not much more. Seems like Keens quality in shoes have gone down hill lately.
