This pair of boots is the second purchase Ive ever made of Maelstrom tactical products, and it will be the last. Upon initial inspection, they seemed well-made; the eyelets are nice and secure, the sidezip zipper is good, and the suede is of good quality. Theyre relatively lightweight (nothing like my McRaes, but far better than a standard issue boot) and theyre comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. That, however, is the last good thing youll hear me say about them. Ive owned these boots for less than a year, and altogether have probably only worn them for a total of 60 to 90 days out of that year, and have found the following: *The mesh and foam combination on the sides and front of the boot *is* highly breathable, but its equally fragile. God forbid you walk through a single bush, because the mesh will snag, tear, and start falling apart, with bits of the thin, cheap foam underneath falling out around it. Well, you might ask, what about hiking through sandy terrain (these are, after all, "desert" boots)? Nope, also not a great idea because the mesh and underlying foam traps sand and dirt that youll be trailing behind you every where else you might go for the next month. *The rubber tread, although a nice tread and very effective and (possibly) long-wearing, is already severely delaminating from the foam sole of both boots. So, although the tread might be long-wearing, its not going to do you much good after its fallen off the boot. *Although the leather and zippers are good materials, the stitching that connects them together leaves a lot to be desired... I already have several rows of stitching that are starting to unravel. Overall, dont buy these. If youre only looking for a boot that will withstand 3 months of moderate usage, you can get one for a much lower price.

I really wanted to like these boots, I even tried to convince myself they fit. they do not. I normally wear a size 14 and ordered a size up and I could barely fit my foot inside. the back of the boot gouges into my heels and no amount loosening up the laces made it comfortable. The construction also leaves me a little concerned. There are parts of the leather that arent even fully glued down on the rubber sole.

After reading the reviews I added these to my order quickly. Delivery was very prompt! Ordered late night Dec 9, received Dec 12 - cant beat that from just about anybody. The nitty-gritty: I have wide 10.5 feet and these leave me plenty of room for my toes, so very comfortable. The first day I didnt wear appropriate socks so my feet were slipping a little bit, but after wearing normal (to me) socks they are just fine. The zipper is the main reason I purchased these boots so I can change my socks half-way throughout the day as Im a delivery driver. The zipper is smaller than showed in the photo, but still functional - probably would be better with the larger zipper shown. I ended up receiving a "dud" pair of boots, really just one boot where the upper over the toes started cracking after a few days - bad piece of material I guess. This will be the first thing I ever try to return. Again after the previous reviews perhaps I just got a lemon. They ARE comfortable though. EDIT: Maelstrom contacted me almost immediately after my review was posted (within the hour, possible even within the half hour but not positive about this) and without question refunded my purchase. For this alone I have revised my rating and also will purchase from them again.

The Boots ran way to big. I bought a size 8W Landship 2 boot assuming the fit would be similar to my previous order for a size 8 original Landship boot. I tried then on and the new boots had to be at least 2 full sizes to big. I measured the soles against my old pair and the new boots were 1.5 inches longer than my old pair of 8s. My guess is the wrong tag was sewn into the boot since when reviewing the Fit section in the description the boots are supposed to be "as expected" or run small, not 1.5 inches too long. I really like the boots but dont know what to order now. Do I order a six and hope the new boots really run large or order the same size again and hope the boots fit. Needless to say I immediately returned them. MAELSTROM HELP ME OUT HERE.

I really wanted these boots, the pictures looked great and they have all the features I wanted. When they arrived I was disappointed. They are extremely wide right through the mid point or arch area of the foot. So wide they bunch up when I roll my foot from heal to toe. They look very cheap, the leather looks like black plastic. I never wore them out and put my box out with the trash when I received them being so excited they were what I wanted. Long story short, I cannot return them now without the box and they are so wide they look like irregular clown shoes. I am very disappointed with this purchase and more so with myself for buying cheap Chinese boots and throwing out the box before being completely satisfied with them. You get what you pay for.
