Had my last pair of MOABs for 6yr. Didnt think twice about the next hiking boot I was going to purchase, and I wish I did. Overall construction and the tread seem as reliable as my last pair, however it appears somewhere along the line they merged the lowtop and hightop varieties to create a new and wholly obnoxious variety of hiking shoe, one that comes up high enough to make your feet sweat during nice weather without providing any ankle support for a heavy pack on a trail. I put my old worn pair next to this after I noticed and its a full 3/4in lower. Also the tongue seems to have gotten fatter, which doesnt help with feeling too warm in them. I guess its a nice addition if you want your shoes to be comfy while sitting at a desk job. If youre a hipster who wants to dress like you enjoy the great outdoors while walking from the parking garage to your work in the suburban hellscape that is your life, or just looking for a pair of shoes to match your Forrester, then look no further. If you plan on carrying a pack along a trail then its time to abandon this brand as they have clearly sold out.

Its too early to tell how comfortable these will be, or how they will hold up. They look good, and seem to have good support. The rear heal cup is kind of deep and supportive, as is the arch. The boot feel planted and has a good balance between support (rigidity) and comfort. I went up half a size because of reviews...and Im not sure I needed to. My left foot is bigger than my right, and the left is perfect... the right is almost perfect. This is pretty normal for me, and I typically have to end up with one shoe fitting a bit tighter or looser than the other. All of the people going up an entire size make me wonder what brands they wear on a regular basis... there is no way I could have worn a whole size up. I wear an 11 in Hokas and most running shoes (asics, adidas, nike) , but a 10.5 in darn near everything else (Clarks, dress shoes, Cushes, Solomons) . I went with an 11 with these. On the first day I realized that despite Goretex being breathable, these made my feet pretty warm when combined with a pair of Smartwool socks. I will have to experiment with some other hiking socks in these. My old Solomons were also Goretex and seemed more breathable. I will update after a bit of summer hiking, walking in town, and days at work. Update: These boots arent all the comfortable. The weird heel cup is very stiff and makes an uncomfortable pressure point near my arch. My old Solomons and Keenans are much more comfortable.

These are great lightweight but durable boots. Very supportive. I had tried these in in a store before ordering so I knew to order half a size up from what I would normally wear. I also ended up ordering the EE width even though I dont normally wear a wide shoe. The standard D was pretty narrow and the EE gives me the flexibility to adjust how snug I want them.

Will never buy Merrill again. Only used for maybe 20 miles of hiking and the inner lining of one boot came loose and now bunches up. Because the time was up (by a few days) cant get them to exchange or refund them. This isnt the first pair of shoes bought thru Amazon that Ive had to return. Im beginning to think they may be defective to begin with. Stick to buying them from the store.

Was looking to move from a normal boot to something more universal in ability. I generally wear red wings as a semi driver and wanted some more tread and relaxed feel compared to 8in. Leather anti-slip. These have became a go to boot for me from going to the store to working in the yard. They have a great trip on the frozen metal floor of a reefer trailer that gets slick from condensation and humidity. They arent overall warm as its fall already but I could see how during the summer the vented version will be better. It took about 3 days off and on wear to fully break in and now they are almost as comfortable as my red wings.
