I broke these bad boys out the box yesterday, laced up and put them to the test! Fresh out the box I felt like I was walking on clouds, extremely light weight with great traction. Grabbed my turtle shell aka "Backpack" and my 3 year old pitbull, hopped in the car and drove to the woods. We walked through the woods for a couple hours, across fallen trees, through the streams (not rock hopping strait puddle stompin), up and down big hills! The water wasnt higher than the laces however no moisture in the boots when I was done! No sweat or creek water! I love these boots! Keep up the good work Merrell!

My husband is in his forties and has gone back to school on a pedestrian campus. He also has plantar fasciitis, and we were concerned that all of the walking might aggravate it. He wears these shoes daily, and has had no problem whatsoever. In fact, his plantar fasciitis is better since hes been wearing them. Hes worn them through all seasons at this point, and he has no complaints whatsoever. The first time he tried them on, he said they fit like a glove. Hes very pleased with them. Were on his second pair, only because he wore out the first from so much walking.

Bought these to walk the Camino in Spain. They are not as comfortable as the non-waterproof Merrells. More rigid and heavier. That said, they performed well, and I needed the waterproofing. Walked in the rain and mud and my feet never got wet. Parts of the Camino are treacherous, with large rocks or slick slate. I had no problems with slipping. The soles were thick enough to protect my feet while walking on rocky trails. After about 200 miles the boots had stretched and I started getting heal blisters. Remedied this by wearing two pairs of wool socks instead of one. Surprisingly, after completing a 400 mile hike the boots showed little wear. I would have no hesitation wearing the same pair to do the walk a second time. Cant go wrong with Merrells.

These things kick butt. I work in the rain a lot, and need something that can hold up to being rained on for like 8+ hours non stop while stepping in water and all the rest. These things have gotten so wet I could swear they would let water through but they have not yet. I also ride my motorcycle with these when I know im going to have to ride in bad weather and I know my feet will always be try. I wish they had a high boot version of these.

This is my 10th pair of MOABs; and I am looking forward to how MOAB 2 compares to the first generation boot. Because my last pair was slightly snug I ordered a 10 US instead of the usual 9.5. The 10 fits fine My usual practice is to wear my new pair for inside work and retire the old for outdoor work. Hence, at any given time, I have two pair. The outdoor boot takes a beating----mud, gravel, and lots of water. Rather than clean up the outdoor boots after a muddy project, I leave the mud on to dry. At the next wearing, it falls off and I have a mostly clean boot. After shopping around, my conclusion is that the Merrell MOAB is the best hiking boot on the market. Right out of the box, I can wear this boot all day with no blisters.
