First; this is the most comfortable and best support shoe I have ever owned. I even bought a pair in black. The Unfortunate part is that after less than three months they are wearing out. As you can see from the picture at the ankle roll a hole has worn and down toward the toe you can see where the material is beginning to separate

This beast feels great right off the bat. Granted, I have only had the shoes for about 3 weeks now but I am impressed. I currently do not run long distances but the little that I have run, (about a mile a day) they feel great. In the past I would have sore knees and feet until I broke them (all beasts) in. I have been using the Beast for almost 15 year I figure. They were always a heavy shoe but now they feel lighter while providing equal or better support than the previous models that I have used. The toe is spacious and the heel is firm but not too-just right! I have tried other shoes and the cushioning is mostly disappointing. I weigh around 195lbs. and I am about 61". I have flat feet and over-pronate. How I made it through basic training is beyond me(smile) Being a bigger runner I really need the cushioning and the support! So far these shoes foot I mean fit the bill! I am ready to buy a second pair within a few months in case they change the build again. I believe that they have reached the pinnacle of shoe for over-pronators and larger runners. Just my opinion. Great Shoe!

The Beast 16 was a big step back, the 18 is a great step back in the right direction. The Toe area in particular is greatly improved, as is support and comfort. Great shoe for those who over pronate.

About me: Flat-footed, overweight, and size 14 shoe. The shoe fit as expected. With my flat feet, I struggle to find comfortable shoes. I have been purchasing the Brooks Beast since 2007 because it is very comfortable and fits my needs just right. I wish they also made a version of this shoe for everyday activities because I keep one extra pair just for that reason. The shoe breathes exceptionally well, which is fantastic in the summer but make sure you wear some warm socks in the winter if you are using outdoors. Also, there is very little protection from water. Crossing over freshly watered medium height grass may allow water to reach your socks. I keep telling myself that this is probably true of most running shoes? Anyways, this is my reason for wanting them to make an everyday shoe. I love the shoe, I have purchased 7 or 8 pairs of them. I have tried several shoes from various brands but always come back to the Brooks Beast. If you are flat-footed check them out! Also, they come in EEE/EEEE or UW (which is awesome because not many do)!
