I have been purchasing New Balance for years. Within the last two years the quality control is non existence. The pair of shoes "624" tennis shoes I purchased in Nov.2017 are falling apart. I use these shoes for walking about..NO outdoor work etc. I started buying them probably 15 years ago manly for the width provided and comfort. Now they just fall apart. If you can see the picture you can see the sole is coming off as my others shoes did and the front side is tearing away. Last pair I will buy!!!!! No quality control now!!

Its difficult find reasonably priced shoes of this type in a 6E width. Ive had several of these and they are very comfortable.. I usually walk 35-40 miles a week on pavement and dirt trails and the shoes wear out in a little over a year. I kept a pair for just wearing around the house and normal use without all the mileage. This pair is 4 years old and is still in great shape. I would like a different tread pattern with more grip for dirt hiking trails but these will do.

Great shoes, and they are comfy and fit well. For someone with large feet like mine, you want to lace all the way up. The heel is a bit loose at first and rubs, but they break in quick. Lacing up all the way gives the heel better grip. Its a bit sharply angled just before the toe, but this stiffness also breaks in quickly. The insole and sole are very comfortable for walking. Anyway, if you have 6E width feet, your choices in affordable footwear is limited. These are nicely priced and high quality.

Poor workmanship. I have had success with NB in the past, but these shoes split on the small toe sides of both shoes after only 2 months of average, non-athletic use. I am presently dealing with NB for a possible return

Over the years, Ive bought their 621, 622, 623, and now 624 shoes. They are basically the same design, although the design differs somewhat from the older to the newer models. Im still using shoes, the 621 model, that may be 10 years old -- without a problem. But the 624 shoe I purchased now "broke" soon after purchase when I pulled the shoelaces tight. The lace pulled right through the eyelet. Inspection showed the 624 model lacks a substantial ridge along the edge toward the tongue that is needed to provide support for the eyelets. Pull tight and the lace can break right through. Is this the fault of the New Balance folks at headquarters or the Asian manufactury where they were made? I suggest adding, as I have done now, some epoxy glue or other strengthening agent along that ridge to prevent the breakthrough of the laces. Or, dont pull the laces tight. I also suggest New Balance do some more research to learn about the fault of their latest design of the 62x series.
