Was great for about three months, but socks started getting wet in one shoe. Use these shoes lightly in the morning to walk our dog, and need the waterproofing to protect from the morning dew on the grass. Really loved it, until recently. There are no holes anywhere, and it appears the water is coming in from the tongue area. So as a waterproof, or water repellent shoe, its a failure. Not walking through puddles or mud, just simply through the occasional wet grass.

First off, these shoes run pretty narrow- I had to return and up a size from my regular size. Besides that, I took these boots out to tahoe national forest, spent 2 days hiking around rocks and hills and water. By the end of the trip, the rubber grip on the bottom, specifically the cross/T parts have completely ripped off from the ball of foot area. The shoes now only have most of the traction around the edges and the heel, but if you are planning on hiking with rocks, or sharper edges, these boots sort of fall apart. They were incredibly comfortable and worked very well for me this weekend, just disappointing that the rubber traction on bottom is already falling off.

My wife loves these shoes. We know they run small because she has purchased similar shoes from Columbia throughout the past 10 years. We ordered a half size larger than normal and they fit well. They appear to be well made and durable. I expect they will hold up well and if not, I will update this review.

I’m skeptical about the waterproof because of the mesh areas. I have not walked in rain but have walked in dew. The water resistance held up but I felt my socks were damp when I used a hose to spray some mud off. I have worn 7.5 forever but these shoes were too small. I have narrow flat feet. I had to return them for a size 8, which was perfect. But I’m burying the lead: I LOVE these shoes!!! I have done running and hiking for decades and worn Nike, Brooks, Ahnu, Clarks, Columbia and Merrill. This the most comfortable shoe I’ve bought. I only give it four stars because I don’t think they are truly waterproof. Comfort would be rated as 6 out of 5!

Runs smaller than non-waterproof Redmond. I ordered my real size since Ive tried the regular Redmond hiking shoe on and it was perfect. But this waterproof version is much too short - toe was right up against the front, no wiggle room! Returning :(
