AWESOME SHOES! I got them a half size up because I needed toe room while doing a pretty elevated hike. They are completely waterproof and so comfortable. I went to REI prior to ordering these and tried on about five different hiking boots and these were by far the best fitting for me.

I bought these shoes after seeing them on several websites lists of the best hiking shoes plus Amazon reviews. Initially these shoes seemed comfortable and had good grip on uneven terrain. The problem is the sole has virtually no flex, which puts a lot of pressure on your heel since you cant roll forward onto the ball of your foot as part of a normal walking gait. This unrelieved pressure on the heel causes foot problems. After a 7-mile hike in these boots, I was considering taking the boots off for the final mile to stop the aching in my heels. Returning these shoes.

I purchased these to replace my old "mens" leather Wolverine hiking boots. We are planning a trip to the Grand Canyon and needed some light weight, comfortable hiking boots, however they will mostly be worn for hiking the woods in Northern WI where we live. I have wide feet and high arches, so always have a very hard time finding womens boots in a wide width. I usually end up purchasing a mens 6.5 or 7 and putting in arch supports, I so was very excited to find a womens hiking boot, in a wide width, and with arch support. I usually wear a womens size 8 or 8.5 depending on how they run, so I purchased both a size 8 and 8.5 for comparison. The 8 provided enough room for my toes in the width, but my big toe came a little too close to the edge of the boot. I dont like feeling the end of my shoe with my big toe when I walk and didnt want to depend on them stretching with wear. The 8.5 is a little loose, but better than too tight. They feel very comfortable right from the start. So far, I have only hiked a short distance in the woods around our house, but they were very comfortable, no aching feet or blisters. I am older and have started having problems with my arches and ankles. In time I may end up putting in special arch supports, but they so far feel very comfortable and feel like they will provide me with the support I need. The grip seems adequate, but were a little slippery though on wet leaves and rocks, but not as much as my insulated Wolverines I wear in the winter. To be fair, we still had some melting snow in the woods that day, which can be a little icy and slippery. I avoided the usual spring time standing water, so cant comment on how waterproof they are. My socks did stay dry through the little bit of wet snow I walked through. What little mud I did get on them, brushed off easily the next day after it dried. I do wish they came in a darker color though, like the Moab 2 boots that are not waterproof, as I fear the light tan is going to look dirty and dingy pretty quickly. They are very expensive, but with my old foot challenges, overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend them to anyone, especially if you have problem feet!

Excellent boot. Had to buy without trying on and depended on comments and information posted about the boots. Just as they said, these boots did NOT have to be broken in. I think size is true, but I will say that I could wear only one pair of socks with them instead of the double pair I use with my other books. So this boot runs smaller? Or the other pair I had runs a little larger? Who knows? Overall, ridiculously happy with this pair of boots.

I went to San Pedro de Atacama I’m Chile and I was impressed how comfortable these shoes were. I was happy hiking in the desert with high temperatures, my feet were perfectly fine, and when I was at the Geysers with freezing temperatures and some water around these shoes were amazingly and accurately water proof. Very happy with them and looking forward to many more adventures together!
