Im an 8.5-9 and I got the 9. I dont have particularly wide feet or calves but I wish the shaft was just a LITTLE wider on these, starting at the ankle. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. The boots fit my feet very well although theyre easier to put on than to take off...the ankle area is so tight that it creates major suction when trying to take them off. Its so strong that the footbeds lift up and out of place. I have to push them back down into place every time. My feet always get stuck in these unless I wear long socks. The silver lining is that if youve EVER lost a boot in thick mud, that will probably never happen again in Sloggers. These boots are made for people who need to get things done. Theyre super flexible and impressively lightweight. I feel very confident wearing these through thick puddles, mud, slush, etc. Theyre like a second skin. I havent walked long distances in them so I cant attest to extended-wear comfort. I need them for springtime because my back yard has no grass and becomes a pond/mud pit. My previous pair of rain boots was about $50, but they cracked in at least 2 places on each boot before 12 months had gone by. The other thing I love about Sloggers is that the boot design/pattern is printed on fabric that seems like diving suit material. Then its coated in about 1/8" thick clear, flexible rubber material. This means that if you scuff your boots, youll still be able to see the pretty designs on it. My $50 boots had the design printed on top of the rubber, which wore off over time. If you have large calves then you may want to try their bootie instead of the boot: Sloggers 2841BK09 Womens Rain and Garden Ankle Boots with Comfort Insole, Size 9, Midsummer Black Super cute and very well made! Just order up if youre a 1/2 size.

These rain boots have great tractions and are very high quality. Exceptionally comfortable and wonderful support for your feet. Just like the picture. I am giving them a 4 star because the seam in the front leaked water onto the fabric lining right by my toes, while I was walking in a foot of water for about 10 minutes. I am not sure if mine were defective or if they are all like this. I think for everyday rainwear they are great more comfortable and stable than even the Hunter boots. However, I was going to use them for gardening and it is hilly, muddy and quite wet in my garden that I do not think they would suit my purpose. I think urban gardening were you have bricks, grass or pavers to walk on they would be wonderful.
