At 210 lbs, and 72 yrs old, its hard on my back and knees when I jog. These are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever had. You can feel the extra cushion when you first put them on and really notice it when jogging. No sore back or knees.

I bought this shoe mainly for walking, Im not a runner. Is has a great amount of cushion and weighs next to nothing, so I find it a very comfortable walking shoe for both the treadmill and on pavement. The heel fit is a little odd, took a week to get used to it. Its not uncomfortable, it just feels odd, like your heel is not fully inside the shoe somehow. No big deal, just odd. On the other hand the shoe fits smaller than expected, I wear NB leather shoes as my day to day shoe, currently wear the 623 model, and the 10.5 EE fits just right every time. Im on about my 5th pair. The 1080v9 on the other hand I had to go all the way to 11.5 EE to get a good fit.

What a great pair of running shoes!! I have been running in ASICS Gel Kayano shoes and will never go back if NB can keep churning out shoes like these. Over the past week I have run in these on pavement in my neighborhood, Griffith Park trails in LA and at Point Mugu state park and I couldn’t be happier with how they have performed. They are not trail shoes but have no problem performing well on dry and mostly smooth trail surfaces. I am a heavier runner at 200 lbs. and love the cushioning and support these shoes provide. Much better than anything I have run in previously. I also like the fact that NB maintains some of its manufacturing in the USA. I will definitely be open to purchasing the v10 after I wear these out.

This is my first NB 1080 model, and it complies perfectly with what i was searching (good cushioning and stability, in a good balance with the weight).

I have to agree with a previous reviewer that this shoe seems to have taken a step down from previous versions. I loved the V7. It was near perfect. The V9 upper, however, strikes me as too cheap to make it through the week. Outside of the "N," there is absolutely zero reinforcing/trim, which makes them look like the Kmart slippers my 80 year old grandfather would pull out of the closet to wear to the Country Buffet. Returned (thankfully) due to being the wrong size and too leery of the construction to order a replacement. Probably going to see if my old favorite, the Mizuno Wave Creation, is back on track or if a pair of V7s or V8s can be found before Id consider reordering another pair of V9s. (& Whats with these lousy color options, imho?)
