Took the width to get the length. The comments by others who bought these shoes are very helpful. The wider toe box was great information. The suggestions to buy a half size larger was also spot on. The length is critical for me as these boots will be worn in rough country. Dont need more black toe nails in my future. My feet are not wide. The extra half size makes these boots a bit wide. Luckily the laces come down quite close to the toe box and that allows me to cinch and knot the lower laces enough to compensate for the extra width. With thick socks, Ill probably be OK. I am suspicious that the plastic hooks at the top will not hold up and I cant currently envision a workaround. PRO: 1. Great comfort from the get go. 2. Good position of the lacing eyes. 3. I like the tread pattern. Hopefully the bonding problems have been solved. 4. Great price. 5. Wide toe box. CON: 1. Short length makes it necessary to go up a half size. 2. Insoles a bit thin. Am going to hold off on replacements until Ive worn these boots in the rocks. 3. I worry about the plastic hooks on top. Have only walked about ten miles so far. Will revise this review in a year. REVIEW OCTOBER 2018, I wore these boots on a two week camping trip in 2016 and on another two week camping trip in 2017. When I took my boots out for a trip in the fall of 2018, the rubber lugs on the soles (both boots) had started to peel off. Keen web site tells me that if I dont wear the boots very often, the lugs will peel off. WHAT? WHAT? Thats crap. So, now I will try and see if Keen will repair them. When that happens, I will update this review.

This is the 3rd one I buy because of the amazing fit and comfort, the 1st I buy on Amazon, and the amazon one was a little bit not symmetrical. Im not a perfectionist but the 2 lines at the top front tip are very different when comparing right and left shoes. Thats however isnt my complain, Im not buying this again because of the bottom. It deteriorates really quick. the 1st 2 shoes lost considerable amount of thickness after only 3 months then water started leaking into my socks. The one I got from Amazon had the black part at the heels separate from the grey part after 1 month so I used superglue to put it back and noticed how worn out it got! I really hope they use the same mold but with different material, but for this current material Id rather have blisters than buy new shoes every 6 months.

This is my second pair of these boots. I was very pleased with the first pair. The current pair has not done very well at all. I just purchased them in November and it is May (6 months) now and the bottoms are falling apart. I’m trying to get in touch with Keen to see if they will send me a pair of replacement boots. I think that I should get more than six months wear from a premium pair of boots. I would expect a cheap pair of boots from a discount store to wear out this quick but not a $100 + pair of boots.

Previous pair lasted a year and half before I finally gave them up. Ordered a new pair and inside of a week noticed that something was bugging my big toe. The liner inside the toe box was bunched up and hanging down and touching my toes. Sent the boots back and received another pair. First thing I did was reach my hand in both boots to see if they were OK. Both boots had the liner installed to where it was bunched up at the top of the toe box. Sadly I sent the second pair back and got a refund. I really liked my previous pair but after trying two pair with the same issue I have been forced to look elsewhere. Check your boots when you get them. Hopefully Keen will address this manufacturing defect in the future. I may try a pair of the Keens that are made in the US.

These are my second pair of Keens Targhee... I love them and they feel so very comfortable. I do find that the back heel gets worn down really fast when I walk with them in my neighborhood. I thought maybe it was the way I was walking but it only happens with these boots, and not my other shoes (which are also Keens as well as other brands). Im not sure it it is because they are designed for walking on wooded areas or what have you- but still I have absolutely no regrets. These carried me all through the Rockies last year and I know they will do great this year. They will take just a little bit of time to stretch out and your toes might get a little rubbed- but that will quickly go away and they will fit perfectly.
