My review echos many of the other reviews on these boots. I wear a 12 and bought the 11.5 as I have done with 3 previous pairs of the X Ultras. These now seemed to run a hair smaller and narrower then the previous version. So keep in mind that you should try these on in a store first. Not really sure why Salomon is messing around with their already goofed up sizing but it is frustrating. Now - I like my pair and I like them a lot. I wear them everyday and work in the investigation field so they hit the demands of North country salt, snow, slush, and all the other crap I put them through. They are watertight to a inch of water/slush and my feet do not over heat. Best of all if need I can run in these boots...and run well. Much better then the standard boots worn by my coworkers. They are professional looking and hold up so well that I will likely stick with this brand for many years. I have a work pair, outside chore pair, and a running in the snow pair. I get a year out of these but again I wear them everyday. No too shabby!! Four stars for the sizing issues but otherwise - perfect.

These shoes are poorly made, I bought them for my husband, and just about 10 minutes into trying them on and walking around the house with them, he took the insoles out and put in different insoles, still hurt his feet, he wore them for 3 days, and then told me dont ever buy me these shoes again, he said they feel like a cheap pair of tennis shoes. he wore them outside so we cant return them, we thought we were buying a great product, based on the other reviews. We are sadly mistaken. I have to say the seller did nothing wrong, this is review is strictly about the shoes. the shoes arrived promptly and in perfect new condition. I have no complaints about this seller. I have not contacted the seller due to this isnt the sellers fault, its the company that makes these shoes. I would not recommend these shoes.

I wore these around the house to get a feel for the fit and see how much breaking in would be required. Ten minutes in the fit test, the upper portion started digging into the top of my foot. Tried to push through for another hour and it just got worse. I had a pretty good indent in the top of my foot. The shoe has leather reinforcement strips that run from the lace anchors to the sole with fabric in between. The fabric was pinched inwards between the leather reinforcements and into my foot. This happened at other spots but didn’t dig into my foot, not sure if additional hot spots would develop as I returned after the fit test.

Install Flash Player If you spend any significant amount of time off pavement, do yourself a favor and get these boots. I had the Solomon XD pro forces, but did not care for the speedlaces on a hiking boot. These are great though. They are comfortable right out the box, and have gotten even better after a week. The tread is excellent for off road - giving sure footing even downhill. The gortex works as it should, keeping your feet dry as long as water doesn’t go over the top of your boot. I am wearing these with a class B uniform (LE) about 3 times a week, but will also wear them off duty. You learn as you get older how important your feet are. Buying good socks and shoes is a priority. Pair these with some darn tough brand socks and you are set. I did make a cool little video clip, but I paid for these boots and I am not a paid spokesperson. Lol

Sorry in advance for a long review, but this all must be said. If you are unfamiliar with Salomans or are on the fence about spending coin on them, read this. My last pair I owned, XA Pros, lasted about 4 years. Why only 4 years, you ask? Well... I wear them everywhere. Work, riding the motorcycle, working outside, hunting, competitive shooting... I beat them up. Most comfortable and durable low boots Ive ever owned. Then, I got rearended by a pickup on my motorcycle one day, and ended up ripping the steel footpeg from the steel frame with my foot. Broke my ankle. Shattered the big toe. Boots? Tiny gash through the top, thin textile layer. Still wearable. Still waterproof. Still comfortable. I still wear them for rough work, but got a pair of X Ultras for my everyday boot. Bottom line: if you want a boot that is capable of laughing at steel, and able to outlast even your bones, then get these. They are absolutely worth every single penny.
