The Z cloud is a nice alternative to the regular Chaco Z. The light layer of cushioning on the deck of the shoe where the sole of your foot meets the deck of the sandal makes for a more comfortable experience when walking on pavement, or a treadmill, or if you just have a sensitive spot on the bottom of your foot. One caveat though - is that if you wear these hiking off trail where there are an abundance of small pebbles the pebbles have more of a tendency to get stuck between the sole of your foot and the deck of the sandal because the pebbles more easily adhere to layer of soft cushioning so you have to stop, loosen the strap, and remove the pebble whereas with the normal Chaco Z off trail you can normally just lift your foot to take the pressure off and shake the pebble loose so it falls. Overall, another great sandal from Chaco. I just thought this explanation might help if you were trying to decide which sandal was better suited for your particular intended use.

I wore this sandal for quite a while with no complaints. It took a little getting used to coming from a Teva, buy for hiking and working outdoors this was far superior. This summer I knew the trade was getting low and figured Id have to buy a new pair or have them resoled next summer. Then I noticed one of them had bubbled and there was a hole going though to the (undamaged) strap. rather than pay for a whole new sandal I figured I would send it in before the strap got damaged and just pay to have it resoled or possibly have it fixed under warranty. They told me it would be covered under warranty and they would repair it and send it back. Their website says turnaround time is 10 days after they receive the sandal. They have now had my sandal for 30 days and it has not been repaired yet, it "is still on the floor, but they should ship it out this week"...which is also what they said last week. So not only is it not repaired a month later, it still has to be repaired and still has to be shipped back and by the time that is done Ill be looking at 45 days MINIMUM before I get them back. If I had known it would be like this I would have bought a different pair of sandals 35 days ago and not bothered with this clown show.

Bought these not knowing anything about the brand. I heard someone at work talking about Chacos and how much they like them. So, I decided to give them a try. I wore them around the house or yard every once and a while and was like, whats the big deal. It wasnt until I spent an entire day with them on in Hawaii, walking on the beach, sidewalks and trail walking on rough terrain that I realized how comfortable and great they are. All day long comfort. The most comfortable sandal I have ever worn. I would recommend it and buy it again.

I thought I needed an upgrade from flip flops and these seemed to be well reviewed so I bought a pair. The straps are a bit annoying in that you need to loosen and tighten them EVERY time you put them on. I saw the buckle and erroneously thought you adjust the straps to your foot once and then just snap them on and off with the buckle. This is not the case as the "buckle" is just a tension adjust that you adjust each time you put they on. Might not seem like a big deal, but Im accustomed to wearing slip on sandals and Birkenstock EVA, that you just slip into. Also these are quite a bit heavier than most flip flops. They are built on a sturdy slab of material that is molded to fit most feet. It has a nice heel cup that keeps the back of your foot steady. However, the synthetic material is not like the Birkenstock cork and leather that moulds to your foot over time. Make sure these fit when new, as they dont look like they will form to your foot later. The layer directly against your foot is lightly embossed with a grid pattern but not enough in my opinion to allow ventilation. The straps are woven Nylon and heavy duty, well made --should last quite awhile. I do like the tread pattern on the bottom -- allows for good grip, but not an excessive dirt trap. The first day I got these I went to a festival and did a lot of walking. My calves were sore at the end of the night. Others I know with Chacos told me, its my muscles getting used to the supportive footbed, and that sensation will resolve after I wear them a while (I hope so.) So far I think they may be correct. Also this model without the toe strap, is rock solid --no slippage when I walk at all. I dont know why Id want a toe strap. In any case Im liking these, despite the weight and adjusting straps. In just a few days I can tighten them up with hardly thinking about it anymore. Ill post an update if anything changes.

Ive always been a fan of chacos and this is my second pair as my first wore out. I opted to get this shoe without the toe strap and I am more than glad that I did. The small strap that goes over the big toe constantly tightened as I walked, cutting off the circulation, and from what my friends have told me, this seems to be a common problem. The reason I am knocking off one star, is because if I dont make sure the front strap is loosed enough before I start walking, it will inevitably begin to tighten enough to cause discomfort. But this issue isnt a major problem for me at all.
