The pleasant surprise is that the lacing actually is for more than decoration. The quality is very good; will take a bit of breaking in. The sole seems unusually comfortable for deck shoes. With this type of shoe the fit is tricky. In a regular shoe I have always taken 10eeee. With this shoe I had no choice but to order 10eee. I might have been better off to order 9.5eee. With this 10eee shoe, the fit is front is perfect, but the back half is a little too large. With socks the fit is good.

I bought my husband a pair and he loved them. They fit great initially. However, after wearing for several days they stretched and became very loose. Ive since bought him a second pair in a narrower width. He keeps the first pair to slip into quickly at the door and run outside as needed. Easy on, easy off. The second pair is working out well. Initially a bit snug but has stretched perfectly after a few days of wear. He can wear the second pair to town without losing them in the parking lot! What worked for us was keeping the length (10.5) but going from a wide to a normal width. He wears his with socks most of the time. Very attractive all-purpose shoe.

This is my 5th or 6th pair of these shoes in the last 10-12 years. Im 63" and weight in at 290 lbs. and these shoes hold up very well. I wear them with socks when Im wearing slacks or jeans and they are equally comfortable without socks when Im wearing shorts. The soles wear very evenly and I get a lot of mileage out of them. The uppers are very good too and Ive never had a problem with any of the stitching. The uppers are leather so they will conform to your feet. Its okay if they feel a bit tight at first.

I have never owned a pair of boat shoes before, so I decided to go the trendy route and order a pair of Sperry boat shoes in XW. What a joke they were!! They weren’t even close to being a wide shoe and were promptly returned. So, after looking around for something similar in style, I found this Rockport shoe. Frankly, I can’t believe how well these fit, and how comfortable they are out of the box. I usually wear a 9.5 4E sneaker (New Balance) and the Rockport 9.5 XW fit just as well as my NB sneakers. I just wore them for most of my recent vacation, and they were super comfy. In fact, I kinda’ drove my wife nuts by saying how much I liked these shoes multiple times.

The Rockport Ports of Call Slip-On Iooks very nice and seems to be very well made. The color is very nice and the two eyelet style is just right for slipping on and will be even better when they are worn in. These shoes were a third try to find something that fits and feels right and we finally have found it. These shoes are great for wearing around both in summer and winter (except in deep snow!) both in and out of the house. Because of the high quality leather they will age well and continue to mold to his feet so they will feel almost like comfortable old slippers. I know from past experience- he wanted new moccasin style two eyelet shoes to replace ones he has worn for many years and have finally worn thin and not really right to wear out of the house. We are very happy with these shoes!
